Where does Dahlia’s Hope operate?
Dahlia’s Hope primarily operates in Pleasant Grove, UT and Salt Lake City, UT. We provide outpatient services to male and female survivors of sex trafficking who reside in Utah. We will frequently receive referrals from out of state and the survivor will relocate to Utah to participate in our program.
What is the first step of meeting and beginning to help a survivor?
If a survivor is referred to Dahlia’s Hope, our Clinical Therapy Team will contact the survivor to schedule an assessment/ intake interview, either face to face, on the phone, or via electronic interface. When a survivor contacts Dahlia's Hope or is referred for our services, the clinical team will connect with the survivor to assess if the survivor's needs can be met through the program and schedule a time for a complete assessment and goal setting.
What if someone has been free from trafficking for a while, do they still qualify?
Even if a survivor has been free from trafficking for months or years, they will likely still need help with clinical treatment, education services, job placement, etc. We treat survivors at varying stages of healing and can complete an assessment for our program.
How long do survivors need services?
There is not a maximum number of years that Dahlia's Hope will provide services to a survivor. It may take months or years to process traumas, achieve stability, and live independently, depending on the length and intensity of one’s trafficking experience. What we do know is that as soon as our survivors start receiving aftercare services, we begin to see change, healing, and hope in their lives.
How do you know when a survivor is ready to be on their own?
Dahlia’s Hope determines when a survivor is ready to be independent through continued clinical assessment. By providing ongoing clinical services, education services, vocational and life-skills training, housing support, clinical work, and follow-up, we see huge progress in a survivor’s abilities to function independently. There is not a set time when we expect a survivor to “be on their own” and, as stated in our mission, we meet our survivors where they are in their lives and then work to prepare survivors to feel independent, happy, and self-reliant. What we do know is that as soon as they start receiving aftercare services, we begin to see change, healing, and hope in their lives.
What happens to survivors after you work with them?
Survivors can “graduate,” so to speak, from our services once they are ready to live independently and can be self-reliant. We also encourage ongoing relationships with our agency for maintenance care when appropriate.
